Why Should You Be Listening To… Madisyn Gifford | Vibez Music

With her debut EP Learning to Exist storming the oaths of Vancouver, Madisyn Gifford is tipping and tapping to new heights.

Set in the hearts of Canada, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter only made her debut last year, but with her take on the world of contemporary pop alongside elegant and compelling lyricism soaring through – you would think she’s been in music for life. Now the rising pop star is following the stride of her debut project into the rest of the year.

Following her past two years growing up, Madisyn encapsulates her adolescent youth into a mature and euphoric seven-track EP, Learning to Exist. From the airy vocals that flow between detailed soundscapes of each track, Madisyn said on the EP: “My EP consists of seven songs that I wrote over the course of two years (ages 17-19); all about moving in and out of interpersonal relationships and the feelings that surround moving from adolescence into young adulthood. Each song holds a special place in my heart because I wrote them in an effort to learn how to exist as a young adult and get my footing as an artist. This body of work feels like it has been such a long time coming, and so much love was put into it – I am beyond excited to share these songs with the world!”

Cracking with the dreamy productions of intricate pop within ‘Without You’ as she delves into a childhood romance to the stand-out track ‘Voulez-Vous’ that bursts her name with the funky beats of cheek and tongue that journeys her realisation into a bad relationship, Madisyn finds comfort in her past. From then on, ‘Black Coffee’ delves into the tease of not liking coffee but plays on her complexities that then pave into the bittersweet love layered by a melancholy melody alongside the flow bouncy soundscapes throughout ‘Already Gone’.

In all words, Madisyn stunning ode to the ups and downs of her life shows glimpses into a star in the making.
