Gwyn Love | L’enfant Von

 I had the chance to chat with Gwyn Love who is the first American to be signed with Vancouver label 604 Records. Her new EP At First Blush comes out on October 30th and with Halloween coming up the day afterwards, we had a lot to talk about. Read all about it below! 

Why did you decide to move away from your hometown?
I left my hometown to pursue my music career and also to get the fuck out. My hometown is one of those towns where so many people grow up there and stay there and that was not going to be me. It never felt like home to me, I needed to find my home.

What inspired your new EP At First Blush? 
Moving to the city and experiencing life for what felt like the first time to me. I was able to live my life how I wanted to after I moved and it was a wild ride. Every song on this EP tells about my experience and things that I learned along the way.

A lot of your writing is about your own personal experiences. What have you learned about yourself while reflecting on your past?
Hindsight is 20/20 baby! I’ve learned that friends are so important and that I tend to get into toxic relationships and am not able to realize it until I’m already so involved that it’s so hard to leave. I’ve realized I can’t change people and can’t help them unless they want to be helped. I’ve realized that I never belonged in that small town I grew up in and I’m glad that I didn’t. I’ve learned that the only person that will always be there for me no matter what, is me and I’m okay with that now.

What can fans expect from the new release?
You can expect a dope ass remix of “never have to see u again” by my boi La+ch (a legend). Also, two tracks that you guys haven’t heard yet! One is more upbeat and the other is a sad bop. I hope everyone loves them.

How does it feel to be the first American signed to 604 Records?
I still can’t believe it to be honest. I’m so thankful and so amazed that this happened for me. I will forever be so grateful for the love and support this label shows me, kinda sucks to be so far though, especially during this pandemic.

Who are some of your favourite record mates?
Marianas Trench is #1 in my heart. I love Fionn, Matthew V, JoJo Mason, The Escapes, La+ch, and Madisyn Gifford is a new signee! I haven’t met her yet but I follow her on insta and I love her voice and her vibes.

How do you plan on spending Halloween?
I’m throwing a little hangout with some of my friends and we are all dressing up and getting lit. I didn’t celebrate halloween growing up so it’s a weird shift to make in my brain, I didn’t even consider it a holiday for so long. I’m excited to spend it with my favorite people though.

What’s next for you?
Well I have a lot more music ready to be released. I’ve also been writing a lot. I can’t wait for live shows! I wanna do some live streams but haven’t quite figured out when I’m gonna do that.
