Vancouver group Vox Rea press the “Reset” button with dreamy new release.
Transcending listeners with the unique ambience that surrounds their music, Vancouver group Vox Rea return with the release of their dream-like new single “Reset.” Aptly titled for the beginning of a new year under their new name, “Reset“
“Reset is a song about fresh starts and new love for the beginning of 2021. It has a simplistic optimism that contrasts the more heavy songs on our record. It’s a song that doesn’t take itself too seriously and we had a lot of fun making it.
Though we wrote it pre-pandemic, “you’re the cure I’ve been searching for” has really taken on a whole new meaning this year.“
says Kate Kurdyak, lead vocals.
The group reintroduced themselves with immediate reception last fall, garnering over 55K streams with their first two releases. Following their debut release “Dose Me Up“, sophomore single “Sinatra” enveloped the group’s abstract aesthetic, creating an ethereal space for listeners seeking an escape. Vox Rea was set ablaze from the embers of The Katherines, the cardinal project of vocalists Kate Kurdyak, Lauren Kurdyak and Kaitlyn Hansen-Boucher. which saw critical success leading into their 2017 album, To Bring You My Heart.
The album garnered over a million streams on Spotify with songs featured on playlists including New Music Friday, Pop All Day, Hot Hits Canada, Indie Pop Chillout and the Canada Viral 50 chart, with their songs heard in TV shows like Orphan Black, Reboot and The Order.
The group received praise from industry and media alike, with coverage in the likes of VICE, MTV, Vancouver Sun and the National Post in addition to national morning show appearances across Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
Accompanied by a top-notch backing band, the female trio has delivered enchanting performances at venues across Canada, captivating audiences at festivals like Rifflandia, NXNE, Juno Fest, Canada Day Vancouver, and Denim on the Diamond. With their debut record set for release later this year, Vox Rea continues to leave listeners in awe with the roll out of their eclectic collection.
